Reusable Bags

1. Reusable grocery bags not only save the earth, but save you on kitchen clutter. After using your bags, return your bags to the car so that you do not forget them during your next shopping trip. You can also purchase a door hook and place the bags there near your pantry. Make sure you wash your bags at least once a month to prevent contamination of fruits & veggies with raw meat. Some stores (below) even offer your a bonus by offering a discount on your purchase.

CVS
CVS offers $1 in Extra Care Bucks with their Greenbag tag on every 4th purchase. The reward prints on the bottom of your receipt.

Target
Many Targets offer 5 cents off your purchase with every bag that you bring along.

Aldi
Aldi does not provide their customers with bags or shopping carts. By bring your bags, instead of purchasing them, you will save 6 cents (plastic) to 25 cents (paper) per bag used depending on your location.

Food Containers

2. Instead of trying to always locate that missing food container lid, use a plastic bin to store all tops. Try purchase similar sets as they usually nest together and can save on storable space.

Storage

3. Most cupboards and doors are great space for more storage. You can purchase storage organizers from sites likes Organize.com or Linen&Things.com to create more space.

Inventory List

4. One of the easiest ways to keep up with what you need is by creating an grocery inventory list. Place items on the list that you frequently purchase. A great place to put it is on the fridge. Every time you use up an item, place it on your grocery shopping list. Also creating an current inventory list of items in your freeze will save you time and money because you will know exactly what is in your freeze before opening the door, saving you on your energy bill by not standing there for 5 minutes wandering what you have or looking for what you need.

Catchall Bin

5. The catchall bin is the best. Use a 20 gallon Rubbermaid tub and go around the house and pick up any items that do not below. This works great for your counter and table areas around dinner time.
