Couponing can be overwhelming for beginners. Here are some tips to remember so that you do not get overwhelmed or discouraged.
- Purchase the same amount of newspapers = to the number of family members. For example, 2 family members = 2 newspapers. The more coupons you have, the more you can stockpile items that are on sale.
- Start out right by organizing your coupons on day 1. Pick the organization style that works best for you.
- Join the daily email blast from Clip This Not That! The daily emails features grocery/drug store deals, daily deals, shopping and online special and much, much more!
- Learn and print your stores online coupon policies.
- Aldi
- Albertsons
- CVS
- Kroger
- Market Street
- Sprouts
- Target
- Tom Thumb
- Walgreens
- Walmart
- Whole Foods
- Always start with a grocery list of must have items for the week. Match these items up with items on sale at the grocery store for maximum savings. Check the weekly store ads for Clip This Not That match ups.
- Set aside at least 30 minutes per store that you plan on shopping at.
- Learn to say “no” to your children and cravings. By reducing your impulse purchases, you will save TONS on your grocery bill. I only shop for items that I have coupons for… it helps… ALOT.
- Start to build a stockpile. Stockpiling allows you to have items in “back stock” for when you need that extra can of evaporated milk for your Christmas pie. Instead of running to the store and paying full retail, you can use your stockpile items at the sale or stock up price.
- Remember that every penny count! Double check your receipt before leaving the grocery store. Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself if you think the price is wrong or if they didn’t scan the right amount of coupons.
- Don’t get discouraged. Remember to start small. Don’t think that you are going to have 90% on your first trip.
